Renewed Call For Long-Term Use To Be Found For Clarecastle “Eyesore”

A renewed call has been made for a new use to be found for a prominent derelict site in Clarecastle.

Cois Fheargais, known locally at Devine’s Field, was intended to be the site of a “substantial town centre mixed-use development” during the Celtic Tiger, but has recently been used by Clare County Council as a material storage yard.

Ennis Municipal District has confirmed that a large stockpile of material was removed from the site in October 2023 and it’s currently engaging with a landowner regarding a potential site for an alternative storage yard.
