Plans to allow several thousand Clare natives who are illegally resident in the United States return home, are being welcomed in the banner.
In a long-awaited announcement, Barack Obama has announced proposals to deal with the 12 million undocumented residents in America.
It will allow those who have been living illegally in the United States for five years and have US-born children to apply for three year work permits.
Further details are expected to be revealed later today, Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan says the measures – which could spare 5 million immigrants from deportation, will represent a first step forward for many.
While Fianna Fáil Cllr in the Ennis area Claire Colleran Molloy, who has campaigned on the issue says it will be a relief to some 2,000 Clare people.
