Rejection Of Trump Doonbeg Works “Putting Jobs At Risk” At Deeply Uncertain Time

It’s claimed the rejection of plans for coastal protection works at Trump Doonbeg is putting 300 jobs at risk at a time of deep economic uncertainty.

An Bord Pleanála has overturned the decision by Clare County Council to grant permission for the works at Doughmore Beach, saying it isn’t satisfied that it would not result in adverse effects on the dune habitat.

It would have seen two structures erected at either end of the strand, totaling 850m in length, made of reinforced sheet piling and covered in sand and cobbles to shield them from view.
