Record Numbers Visit Clare’s Iconic Lighthouse

Record numbers of people have been visiting West Clare's iconic lighthouse.

23,000 people descended on Loop Head between April and August, a 23 per cent increase on the figure for the whole of 2014.

Irish people accounted for over 47 per cent of visitors, while the remaining 42 per cent came from Germany, North America, UK, France and Italy.

The historic landmark began its fifty year of operations when it reopened to the public in early April.
