Record 126 Patients On Trolleys At UHL

The region’s main hospital has recorded the highest number of people on trolleys of any hospital in Ireland.

126 people are waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick as of this morning according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

65 people are in the emergency department with 61 in overflow areas of wards.

It’s more than treble the number at the next highest hospital, which is St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny where 40 people are waiting for a bed.

The previous record of 111 patients on trolleys was also set at University Hospital Limerick back in January of this year.
