Rape Crisis Midwest claims the media coverage of high profile sexual assault cases in recent months has ‘opened the eyes’ of the public.
Last month, MMA fighter Conor McGregor lost a civil action taken by Nikita Hand for a sexual assault that took place in 2018, in a case which captured largescale attention.

Subsequently, Rape Crisis Midwest says it has recorded an uptake in the number of calls received in the last month.
Executive Director, Siobhan O’Leary, says media coverage has highlighted the prevalence of gender based violence in Irish society.
