Sean Quinn’s lawyers say he was an iconic figure  -one of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs with an unblemished character until he got involved with Anglo.

Now at 66  he’s forlorn, reduced to bankruptcy and has medical problems.

This was what was pleaded to Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne who will decide today whether to jail Sean Quinn for breaching court orders by putting Quinn assets beyond IBRC’s reach.

She heard Sean Quinn’s appealing the contempt of court decision and that he is no svengali and so is not in a position to help IBRC recover these valuable international properties.

The bank’s lawyers say whatever the consequences for the 66 year old, the court must act consistently with its own findings that Sean Quinn’s contempt was beyond reasonable doubt.
