Quinn to turn sod on new Ennis National School site

The Education Minister will pay his first official visit to schools in County Clare today, including the new site for the long awaited Ennis National School.

Minister Ruairi Quinn is due to turn the sod for the brand new 32 classroom building at Ashline on the Kilrush Road in Ennis, which will replace the current building and numerous pre-fabs in a project costing 6.6 million euro.

Galway Contractors Stewart Builders are expected to employ 50 people in Ennis over the coming 18 months.

Minister Ruairi Quinn has also arranged a visit to Sixmilebridge National School this morning, as well as meeting with Burrenbeo students at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan and the Maoin Cheoil an Chlair Group at Glór in Ennis.

He’ll also meet staff and pupils at the current Ennis National School, and Principal Ray McInerney says it’s an exciting day for them.
