Emergency flood defence works are being carried out to protect over a dozen homes near Quilty, which were damaged during coastal flooding earlier this month.

Clare County Council is investing 50,000 euro to install around 1,000 one-tonne bags of rock and sand as an interim barrier at Cloughaninchy.
Works are already underway, and the local authority will seek to recoup the money from relief funding that it hopes to obtain from government.
Fresh high tides will peak in the early days of next month, endangering these homes once more, so Clare County Council Senior Engineer Tom Tiernan says time is of the essence.
