Clare County Council’s housing committee has heard questions raised over Ennis 2040 DAC’s role in providing housing in the town.
It follows the appointment of a design team to develop a master plan for a high-quality mixed-use sustainable development for a controversial Francis Street site in Ennis.
At a meeting of this month’s Social Development Strategic Policy Committee last evening, committee member, Tommy Guilfoyle called on the local authority to retain ownership of the site, in order to develop accommodation for people with disabilities, elderly people and those who are “rightsizing”.
The Sinn Féin representative believes Ennis 2040 DAC shouldn’t be involved in housing matters, but rather focus on economic concerns.
