Questions have been raised over whether savings could have been made by Clare County Council with regard to it's legal costs.

In the last two years, the local authority paid over €1.9m in legal fees, though it notes that there were a large number of cases that concluded last year and that over €500,000 related to capital job codes which are largely covered by grants.

Nonetheless, the figures have been called into question by a number of Councillors, including West Clare Independent representative Christy Curtin.
