Push For Clare People To Have Access To Greater Variety Of Banks

A European Election candidate for this region insists red tape must be removed to give Clare people access to a greater variety of banks.

Revolut previously attempted to get an Irish banking licence but withdrew its applications with the Central Bank of Ireland after being awarded one by European Central Bank.

According to the Central Statistics Office, Ireland has just one bank for every 1.6 million people which is below the EU average of one for every 546,000 people.

Ireland South Fine Gael Candidate John Mullins says the level of regulation in the sector should be reduced to give consumer more options.
