Publicans Forced To Drop Customers Home At Closing Time To Stay In Business

It’s claimed some rural publicans in Clare are forced to spend an hour dropping their customers home at closing time, just to keep their doors open.

The number of pubs in this county has dropped by 83 since 2005, according to figures released by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland.

That’s almost a quarter of the level that was here 13 years ago and has been causing concern in rural Clare in particular.
