A public meeting is being held to discuss concerns surrounding a proposed housing development in South East Clare.

Plans have been lodged for the construction of a 101 unit residential estate near Carraig Midhe in Athlunkard, Corbally, which will consist of 49 houses and 52 apartments, with about a fifth of the homes allocated for social or affordable housing.

Concerns over traffic congestion and a lack of public amenities in the area are expected to be raised at the meeting in Shannonbanks Scout Hall from 9 o’clock tonight.

Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, Ardnacrusha Fianna Fáil Councillor, Rachel Hartigan, says with previous developments, locals have often felt their concerns have been overlooked.
