A public meeting will take place in the Temple Gate Hotel this evening to discuss the impact of the proposed redevelopment of the Abbey Street car park on the wider community.
The plan initially envisaged the construction of a multi-storey mixed-use building on the site but this has been greeted with strong opposition from local businesspeople who fear that it would negatively affect commerce.

Yesterday, the Ennis Municipal District Director of Services, Carmel Kirby assured the public that there will be no development on the site for the foreseeable future.
John O’Connor of Custy’s Music Shop says any development there would be detrimental to local business.
