Public Health Officials Concerned About Plateauing Of Cases In Clare

Public Health Officials are concerned about a plateauing of cases of Covid-19 in this region.

Clare now has one of the lowest incidence rates of the virus in this country, with 280 cases confirmed in this county over the past fortnight, compared to 1,299 in the previous two weeks.

It represents 78% drop in cases over that period.

However, the HSE says they’ve identified a growing number of social gatherings locally that have led to new infections and outbreaks in recent weeks.

The HSE’s Director of Public Health in the Midwest, Dr Mai Mannix has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that the current plateau is concerning, but she’s hopeful the rollout of the vaccine will make a big difference.
