Public Health Midwest Urging Vigilance After COVID-19 Outbreak In Ennis

Public health officials are urging people in Ennis to be vigilant after a COVID-19 outbreak in the area.

164 new cases of the virus have been diagnosed in this county in the past 14 days.

Public Health Midwest say at least 10 cases in the Ennis area have been confirmed in one outbreak in the last 14 days, with testing being offered to individuals and groups believed to have come into contact with the disease.

On Tuesday of this week, 24 new cases were confirmed in this county – one of the highest daily increases since the tail end of the third wave in February.

Officials here are asking people to avail of free COVID 19 testing if they have symptoms or feel they may have been exposed to the virus recently.

In a statement, Public Health Midwest says it’s urging people to be ‘upfront and honest’ with contact tracing teams about the full extent of their activities.

People in Ennis and throughout Clare are being urged to register for a vaccine as quickly as possible if they haven’t done so in light of the outbreak.
