Public consultation on Septic Tank Inspections closes

Today’s the last day for rural Clare householders to have their say on the controversial septic tank inspections as the public consultation process closes.

The Environment Minister reduced the fee from fifty to just five euro for those who register in the first three months after the charge is introduced in April, with the final deadline for registration set to March of next year.

Phil Hogan has said the move will ensure that people’s septic tank systems are working properly – but the charge has been met with strong criticism from campaigners, who’ve branded it ‘a tax on rural Ireland’.
