Protestors have demanded an end to the alleged use of Shannon Airport as a “stopover” for US planes supporting the Israeli bombardment of Gaza.

Up to 30 activists from Dublin for Gaza and Action for Palestine Ireland occupied the departures hall of Shannon Airport on Sunday calling for inspections to be carried out of US aircraft passing through the facility.

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan has insisted no US planes transporting weapons to Israel are travelling through Irish airports but Minister of State Jack Chambers has stated there’s no record of an inspection of a civil aircraft suspected of carrying arms.
