A protest is taking place in Ennis today calling for the re-opening of the A&E at the county hospital.
The Friends of Ennis General Hospital have organised the event, which takes place at O'Connell Square from 3 o'clock this afternoon, following record trolley numbers at University Hospital Limerick in the past week.
The UL Hospitals Group has committed to opening a new Emergency Department in Limerick in May but campaigners believe that increased services are needed in Ennis in the interim to help ease the current overcrowding crisis.
