A protest is taking place at Kilkee Pier this afternoon in an attempt to prevent upgrade works from going ahead.

The Department of Agriculture and Marine has approved furnding for a new entrance there, as well as additional installation CCTV and lighting.
But a group representing local divers and boat owners believe the works will result in the loss of parking spaces as well as direct access to the pier.
Clare FM has contacted Clare County Council in relation to the issue but hasn't yet received a response.
Owner of the Kilkee Fishing Club, Ray O'Halloran says none of local's concerns have been taken into consideration.
