Property transactions in Clare were up more than 20 percent in the first eight months of the year.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show 915 residential dwellings were sold between January and August.
130 property transactions were filed in Clare in August 2021 according to the CSO, which is the highest figure seen since January of 2020.
The 915 properties sold in this county in the first eight months of this year is a 21 percent jump on last year’s number, and just four below the 919 sold in the same timeframe in 2019.
Average property prices on those that were legally transferred in August were more than €195,000 – a jump of €20,000 on July’s figure.
Median prices, which are sometimes seen as a more true reflection of the picture, are just €1,000 below that, indicating a spike in prices in this county through the summer of this year.
The CSO stats though seem to suggest first time buyers paid slightly less for property on average in August – €180,000 compared to €192,000 a month prior.
People buying their first home accounted for around 1 in 5 of transactions in Clare in August, with that figure remaining static so far this year.
