Clare homeowners could find themselves paying extra in local property taxes next year.
Councillors have the option to vary the rate by up to 15%, and have cut it by this amount in each of the past two years.
Clare property owners pay 15% less in property taxes than many other coutnies, given the decision by Councillors in recent years to exercise the right to cut the charge.
The cut is worth less than €1 a week to over 90% of homeowners, but leads to a cut of 1.5 million euro in the local authority's income.
In recent years Fianna Fáil, the largest party on Clare County Council, have pused for the reduction.
Now, one of their elected representatives Councillor Tom McNamara says he's adopting a "wait and see" approach.
Others, however, expect a change when the matter is decided on in the coming weeks.

However, Shannon Councillor Gerry Flynn disagrees.
The Independent representative says the the Local Property Tax is not being spent in areas where it's needed and raising it now will hit those on lower incomes, and those with less valuable homes, the hardest.
A special meeting on the issue will be held at the end of the month.
