Programme For Government ‘Could Be Worse’ – Punch

The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association has argued against a cull of the national bovine herd, saying it may lead to an increase in the amount of food imported into the country.

The group’s General secretary, Cratloe’s Eddie Punch, says the proposed programme for government isn’t perfect but that it could be a lot worse.

There was worry that any work to target emissions would lead to compulsory lowering of livestock numbers which would be balanced by importing from other countries.
