Prison officers are calling for mandatory consecutive sentencing for prisoners who assault or injure officers while carrying out their duties.
120 delegates are attending the Prison Officer Association's annual conference in Dromoland.
The organisation is calling on the Minister for Justice to take decisive action following six stabbing incidents in the country's prisons over a six week period recently.
