The Prison Officers Association says it’s members are being placed in an unfair and unsafe position because the problem of jail gangs is not being adequately addressed.

The group’s annual conference continues in Galway today.
Last night, the POA President Stephen Delaney made a speech, in which he called on the Justice Minister to set up an independent review of the development and behaviour of criminal gangs in the prison system – which would issue recommendations as to how the problem can be controlled.
