It’s claimed that as little as the price of a cup of coffee could make a massive difference to charitable organisations in Clare this Christmas.
It comes in the wake of a new survey from the Charities Regulator, which says 86 per cent of people still plan to make a financial contribution this festive period, despite the cost of living crisis.
9 out of 10 people will make a charitable donation this Christmas, despite the rise in the cost of living.
Figures from the Charities Regulator showed 86 per cent of Irish adults will definitely or probably make a contribution to a charity.
Women are more likely to donate than men, with homeless or refugee services charities most likely to be supported.
The Samaritans celebrated their 40th anniversary in Ennis this year and it’s Deputy Director says funding is critical to the running of the branch in the county town.
They’ve answered up to 16,000 calls so far this year, and Pat White says its testament to the people of Clare that they’ve been able to keep going.
Sláinte an Chláir, which is a is a voluntary organisation supporting the people of Clare and their families affected by cancer, relies solely on fundraising drives by members of the public.
Chairperson Theresa Murrihy says people from all walks of life and feeling the pressure this year, due to spiraling costs, but she’s hopeful that people can do what they can for reputable charities.
