President Michael D. Higgins has conveyed his congratulations to Dr. Michael McKillop on winning his fourth gold medal in the Paralympics.

President Higgins described him as a true champion and an inspiration for many budding athletes.
McKillop retained the gold medal he won in the London games four years ago in the T-37 15-hundred metres.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny said his achievements are a worthy reward for his dedication to his sport.
