President Michael D. Higgins has called for Philosophy to be taught on the Secondary School curriculum.

Mr Higgins made the comment as he addressed pupils at his former school St Flannan's College in Ennis earlier.
The President and his wife are in Clare for a number of engagements today including the offical opening of an exhibition in honour of the Kilfenora Ceilí band.
