It’s being argued people in Clare will “suffer immensely” as a result of a proposed renewable energy development along the county’s west coast.
Fuinneamh Sceirde Teoranta lodged a planning application in January for what it described as a “landmark” wind farm consisting of 30 turbines of 1,000 feet in height off the coast of Clare and Galway.
With An Bórd Pleanála due to make a decision on the development in late July, Clare’s councillors debated the issue at this week’s meeting and their comments are to be appended to the application as a submission.
Kilrush Independent Councillor Ian Lynch has put in a personal submission and he believes as the plans currently stand, Galway will reap the benefits while Clare people will experience the most disruption.
