IBAL has commended Ennis for retaining its position in the first post-lockdown anti litter survey.
The county town has once again been deemed ‘cleaner than european norms’ by Irish Business Against Litter.

Ennis has retained it’s position towards the top of the anti-litter league, ranking third out of 40 areas nationwide.
In the first post lockdown survey by IBAL, it was found that there were no heavily littered sites in the county town.
The report, carried out by An Taise, said laneways off the main shopping street, where there had been re-paving, “looked great” and that works at Tim Smythe Park and Abbey Street Car Park didn’t impact on the litter situation there.
While, sites including the Clare Museum environs and Abbey Street were both described as “spotless”.
IBAL Spokesperson, Conor Horgan says it’s great to see that Ennis has retained a leading position in the league.
A former Mayor of Clare admits it’s been difficult to maintain standards during the pandemic.
But Ennis fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard believes this year’s success in partly down to the huge amount of work put in by Tidy Towns committee members and local authority outdoor staff despite the challenges.
Ennis achieved top marks in the anti-litter league four years ago and Councillor Howard, who herself is a member of the Tidy Towns Committee, believes the town can win again, if everyone plays their part.
