Praise For Ennis Following Latest IBAL Survey Results

Ennis has become one of only four towns in the country to be deemed ‘Cleaner Than European Norms’ in the latest anti-litter league survey.

The County Town has climbed back up to third place in the final litter survey of 2020, by business group Irish Business Against Litter.

37 towns and cities were examined overall, with Kilkenny taking the crown for a record 5th time and Killarney in second place.

Eight out of the ten sites surveyed in Ennis received the top litter grade, including O’Connell Street and Abbey Street, Tim Smyth Park, Ennis Friary and Ennis Recycle Centre, while only the Gort Road Business Park was found to be heavily littered.

IBAL Spokesperson, Conor Horgan has commended people locally for keeping the town clean.

Mayor of Clare, Councillor Mary Howard, who’s a member of the Ennis Tidy Towns Committee has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that it’s a positive result, particularly in a year when many volunteers were cocooning.
