Electricity has been restored in Ennis after an earlier fault left much of the town without power.

About 900 ESB customers, many of them businesses saw the lights go out at about 10:20 this morning though the problem was fixed around an hour later.
The problem occured after an underground cable was cut by a contractor who was carrying out works at a business park in the town – no one was injured.
A separate power outage in the Shannon area around the same time was unrelated.
