Pothole Concerns In Quilty To Be Addressed By End Of Week

Concerns about potholes in the Seafield Beach area of Quilty are set to be addressed by Clare County Council before the end of this week.

It’s after residents in the West Clare village expressed their frustration at the condition of a local road there over the past number of weeks.

Clare County Council say the potholes will be filled either today or tomorrow, and have been delayed by current COVID-19 restrictions.

Seafield Beach resident Orla Talty feels the area isn’t getting the same treatment as other parts of the county that have poor conditions.

Clare County Council statement:

We are aware of the condition of the road leading to Seafield Beach. A number of members of the public have highlighted the condition of the road to us. The potholes will be filled on either Thursday or Friday. These works have been scheduled for some time but have been delayed by Covid-19 restrictions. The road has deteriorated in the intervening period.

Clare County Council also hopes to carry out the following works in Seafield:

1. Kerbing and surfacing works to the car park near the pier (works are 80 per cent grant funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development – Town and Village Renewal Scheme);

2. Drainage works to the road and lands adjacent to the beach (works are 100 per cent grant funded by the Department of Transport – Climate Change Scheme).

We hope to commence works in Seafield soon, once Covid-19 restrictions allow.
