The construction of a motorway between Cork and Limerick could potentially qualify for funds from a new EU investment fund. 

The EU Commission president Jean Claude Junker has outlined details of a new 315 billion euro EU investment fund to boost economies and provide jobs in EU countries. 

The Minister for European Affairs Dara Murphy says he thinks a new Cork-Limerick motorway could receive some monies from the new fund.
