An post insists it will listen to appeals from businesses and communities relating to their local service, but it’s warned that some post offices will have to close.
It follows a major protest outside the Dáil last night, in light of the impending closure of 159 post offices closing under consolidation plans.

So far, the future of one in Clare has been secured, the Cooraclare service will transfer to a local shop, but concerns remain for five more earmarked for closure.
