A post-mortem will be carried out later today on the body of a woman who drowned off North Clare.

The 53-year-old – who was a Eastern European national living in Co. Tipperary – was part of a group who were fishing near Fanore when she was swept into the sea at around 9:00 yesterday morning.
Coastguard teams recovered the woman from the water and she was flown to University Hospital Galway, where she later died.
