Post Mortem To Be Carried Out On Body Of Woman Found In Ardnacrusha

A post mortem examination is being carried out this lunchtime on a woman’s body which was discovered in South-East Clare.

A Garda investigation has been launched, as Clare FM’s Gavin Grace reports.

The grim discovery of the woman’s body was made by the River Shannon close to the Ardnacrusha power station, reportedly by a group of schoolchildren.

The woman is aged in her 60s, and Gardaí sealed off an area of land pending further examination.

The woman’s remains have been taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem, that is currently taking place, will determine the course of the investigation.

It’s understood, however, that officers are not treating the death as suspicious at this stage.
