Clare County Council says it intends to disconnect a number of firms who have accrued unpaid water services charges over recent years – the amounts outstanding range from 600 to 42,000 euro and some of the bills are outstanding since 2007.

The Council says it expects to target more companies in the coming months, but local representatives says there is no need for companies to be cut off.

Sixmilebridge Councillor John Crowe who is Chairman of the Council’s Environment and Water Services Strategic Policy Committee is urging those with debts outstanding to come to some form of arrangement with the local authority.
