An official invitation has been extended to Pope Francis to visit Kilfenora when he comes to Ireland in 2018.
Pope Francis has confirmed he'll attend the World Meeting of Families in Dublin and though final confirmation of his itinerary won't be made until six months before the event, hopes remain that Clare will be among the places he'll visit.
Under a Papal Dictate that goes back as far as 1883, the pope is Bishop of Kilfenora, and local resident John Morgan, who is in Rome has today handed in an official invitation for the pontiff to travel there in two years time.
John believes it's important that the Diocese of Kilfenora is involved in celebrations with the Pope
