Sinn Féin Likely To Run Only One Clare Candidate In General Election

Sinn Fein is likely run only one candidate in Clare in the next General Election.

It comes as Shannon Councillor Mike McKee, who was previously nominated to run alongside Noeleen Moran, has announced he won’t contest the election, for health reasons.

The party says that as part of the process both candidates have now been de-selected, as the period of time has elapsed since they were put forward in 2017.

Party member Violet Ann Wynne has now declared her interest in running.

Clare Sinn Fein PRO, Peter Flannigan says the decision to de-select Noeleen Moran wasn’t to do with her performance in the local elections in May.
