Higher Than Usual Voter Turnout In Some Clare Polling Stations

Voting remains steady at polling stations across Clare in Election 2019.

Over 93,000 people throughout in the county have the right to vote today in the local elections, while voting is also taking place in the European election, and divorce referendum.

Some polling stations have reported higher than normal turnouts from early today, mainly in the east of the county, and while voting was slow elsewhere, particularly in parts of North Clare, things have since picked up.

The traditional evening rush is about to get underway, and as it stands, voter turnout at Drumbiggle in Ennis is at 24%.

In Newmarket on Fergus, 26% have voted, while at St Connaire’s in Shannon it’s 19% and in Kilkee, 24% have voted.

Clare FM’s James Mulhall has been visiting other polling stations in the North of the county.

In Quilty, it was a slow morning but began to pick up in the early afternoon, with around 12% of the total number of registered voters turned out so far.

Manuel Di Lucia is in Kilkee today. He’s been looking at some of the other figures in West Clare.

In Shannon, at St Conaires’s 10 % of electorate have been out to vote, while voting is steady in Scarriff.
