The filling of Sinn Féin’s vacant seat on Clare County Council looks set to be delayed by a number of weeks.

The party’s Cúige for Ireland South, which includes Clare, will meet on January 20th, at which stage the date for a meeting on who will take up the seat in Clare, as well as their General Election intentions, will be revealed.

The seat has been vacant since the death of Shannon Councillor Mike McKee in November and hope had been expressed that it would be filled in early January.
