Superintendent “Very Concerned” Over Reduction Clare Garda Numbers

Clare’s Garda Superintendent says he’s “very concerned” at the reduction in Garda numbers in Clare.

The latest figures from the Department of Justice show the number of serving Gardaí in the county has dropped from 314 in 2020 to 305 this year.

11 members of the force based here retired in 2022, as well as fewer than ten the previous year, while 30 Gardaí based in the county were redeployed.

Speaking following yesterday’s Joint Policing Committee meeting in Kilrush, Superintendent John Ryan says the reduction in Garda numbers in the Clare division is a significant issue.
