Driver Travelling At Nearly 200km Per Hour Intercepted By Gardaí Near Ennis

A driver has been caught travelling at almost 200 kilometres per hour on the M18 motorway in Clare.

Gardaí intercepted the driver near Ennis yesterday, after he was caught travelling at 77 kilometres over the speed limit, and proceedings are now underway.

Gardaí say speeding won’t be tolerated on our roads this weekend, which is the first Bank Holiday since restrictions were eased.

There will be increased Garda checkpoints and patrols as part of their Bank Holiday road safety strategy, which focuses on speeding and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

Inspector Adrian Queeney from the Roads Policing Unit in Clare has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that there will be a visible Garda presence on our roads this weekend.
