Points For Over Half Of College Courses Drop In CAO First Round Offers

Points for more than half of college courses have dropped, taking the heat out of the race college for many.

First round CAO offers have been issued to over 1,400 school-leavers across the Banner, after last week’s Leaving Cert results.

The drop in points is being linked to changes made to how they’re calculated, the first time the points system has been changed in 25 years.

Almost 80 percent of pupils being offered a level 8 course are getting their 1st 2nd or 3rd choice – rising to 97 percent for level 6 or 7 courses.
