A plaque in memory of one of Clare’s legendary sons has been unveiled today.
It was unveiled honouring champion boxer Mike McTigue at the bridge bearing his name this morning after it was renamed from Victoria Bridge almost two years ago.

McTigue, originally from Kilnamona, emigrated to the United States and went on to become World Light Heavyweight Champion in 1923.
Distant relative, Michael McTigue, says events like this bring his legacy and achievements to the fore.
