A memorial will be erected in Kilrush to commemorate the immense work of a leading community activist.
Councillor Stephen O’Gorman passed away in 2012 after serving the West Clare town for over twenty years.

Stephen played a major role in founding a multi-agency taskforce to combat criminality in the John Paul Estate and persevered through multiple threats of intimidation against him and his family, including an attempted shooting at his home in 2005.
Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District and Kilrush Independent Councillor Ian Lynch says his courage has transformed the livelihoods and opportunities of countless generations since.
