The local authority is seeking planning permission to carry out a development at the junction of the L4159 to Ennis, the L4158 to Ruan and the R458 to Crusheen in Barefield.

The application outlines plans to realign the junction and set back the existing stone wall to allow for a new 100-metre wide concrete footpath to the north west of the junction.

It’s proposed that the existing two-metre wide footway would be extended for 40 metres along the existing macadam surfacing to the south west of the junction.

Raised uncontrolled pedestrian crossings are planned across the L4158 and the R458 while flush uncontrolled pedestrian crossings are to be constructed across the L4159 and the R458.

The development would also include two additional public lighting columns, gullies, drainage pipework, signage and road markings.

Clare County Council’s Planning Office is set to make a decision on the application by July 3rd and submissions must be in by May 9th.
