An East Clare village’s parking problem could soon be a thing of the past pending the result of a new planning application.
Clare County Council has submitted a proposal for a car park in Bodyke’s village centre.
The local authority is seeking to build a public car park on a green field site at Coolready in Bodyke Village.
The development would involve the provision of vehicular and pedestrian access from the R352 roadway via alterations to existing access.
Pedestrian access would be accommodated via the adjacent Bodyke Community Park while cycle parking and a repair station would also be created.
The application provides for the installation of public lighting and connection to an existing water drainage system via a proposed rain water garden.
It’s stated that an Environmental Impact Assessment isn’t required as a preliminary examination of the “nature, size and location” of the development has been conducted and it’s concluded there’s “no real likelihood” of significant effects on the environment arising.
All submissions relating to the application must be in by March 3rd and a decision is due to be reached by Clare County Council’s Planning Department by May 8th.
